What to expect and how to prepare for your trial…

  • A bridal trial is a dedicated appointment where we design and perfect your wedding hair and makeup ahead of the big day. It’s a chance to explore styles, refine details and ensure you feel confident and completely yourself.

  • Trials typically take place at my home in York or at a location chosen by you.

Full details will be confirmed once your booking is secured.

Additional travel charges apply to locations outside York.

  • Bridal trials usually last around 2–3 hours. This includes discussions, hair and makeup looks and alterations.

  • Please arrive with a clean, makeup-free face and clean, dry hair unless advised otherwise.

I recommend to wash hair the day before or the day of the trial dried smooth with no additional heat products e.g straighteners.

Do not use any heavy products on the skin or hair before the trail.

Please wear a similar colour to what you will wear on the day this helps with tones.

  • If you are planning to Tan before the wedding, then it is a good idea to replicate that for the trial.

  • It’s helpful to bring anything that will influence your final look, including:

    • Hair accessories, clips or headpieces

    • Your veil (if you have it)

    • Photos of your dress or neckline

    • Inspiration images you love

    • Any makeup preferences or products you regularly wear

These details help ensure your trial look works seamlessly with your overall bridal style.

  • Please send inspiration images ahead of your trial this allows me to prepare and understand your vision in advance.

When gathering inspiration, try to look for images of people with similar features to you, such as hair colour, hair length, skin tone and overall colouring. This helps give a more realistic idea of how styles and makeup will translate on you.

We’ll use these images as a guide and tailor the look to suit you perfectly.

  • Hair extensions aren’t always necessary, but they can be really helpful depending on your chosen style. Extensions can add length, thickness or fullness, and are often recommended for styles such as Hollywood waves, fuller updos or voluminous ponytails.

Look at your inspiration picture and think if it is realisticly achieved with your own hair, you may not need a full set but one or two can make all the difference.

During your trial, I’ll assess your natural hair and talk you through whether extensions would enhance your chosen look. If they’re recommended, I’ll advise on the best type, length and shade so everything blends seamlessly.
